Welcome To The Wine Country Rock Crawlers

The Wine Country Rock Crawlers is a 4X4 club made up of a small group of rock crawling four wheelers who want to have fun and contribute to the improvement of off-road activities. We enjoy getting together, whether it be for a fun potluck dinner meeting, or a three-day run over the Rubicon. We're also here to help out on four wheeling conservation projects with our local land agencies.

Greetings,

Spring is here and the rock crawling season is full bloom.

A group of the WCRC just got back from a week+ trip to Moab, Utah. We had 11 rigs from our club participate. It was a great trip. This was the best weather that I have experienced there with low 80s and plenty of sunshine with minimal wind. Mary Krupka and some of the 4X4 IN Motion club had been there last week and had experienced record dust storms, rain, and a little snow. So, we were very lucky. The wheeling was fabulous and the company was great. We did have some of the usual carnage associated with the more difficult trails in Moab. This included a few drivelines, axle, motor mount, warped leaf springs (get coils J), a roll over (a couple very close almosts), track bar, locker, body damage, and probably some things I have forgotten.

Oh yeah, there was also one crushed shade port and three members with body damage (including one run-over). Do not ever start your Jeep while standing outside of it, unless you are positive that it is in neutral. Isn’t that right Jerry B? J The incredible thing was that with all this carnage, I don’t think that Rick Reis broke anything. His motor home did not even catch on fire this trip.

I would like to extend a special thanks to Dan Newhall for organizing the trip and being the run leader/ tour guide for all 10+ trails.

The next big run is scheduled for Memorial weekend at the group campground at Wench Creek. It looks like we are going to get a good turn out. Lance has volunteered to be the run lead. I think that he is planning a couple trips into the Rubicon. Patti and I are bringing along a couple of our grandkids, so we will probably be taking a trip out to the waterfall, which is always a crowd pleaser and do a few “kid entertaining” things. It should be a fun trip. Don’t miss out, sign-up.

See you on the trail. Cool
